Scarlet Robin, it is.

This is the male Scarlet Robin; Petroica multicolor.
I am still learning to distinguish the females from the juveniles and the Red-capped from the Scarlet.

It's fun learning though.

  2. Looking at the wonderful sights, and wildlife you guys get to see over there all the time -- oh, and the snail ... particularly the snail -- makes the little boy in me want to be grateful for the little things that life has to offer that, when it comes down to it, are better than anything that runs on batteries (ok, well there's probably a qualifier I could add here, but it is a family friendly site). And just so it can't be said that I don't appreciate such treasures, I'd like to say this ...

    Thank you for mud,
and the way that it oozes.
    Thank you for sun-spots,
    and afternoon snoozes.

    Thank you for bugs
    that abound in my yard.
    Thank you for toffee
    both chewy and hard.

    Thank you for butter,
    that melts on my crumpet
    and making dad’s nose
    sound just like a trumpet.

    Thank you for rocks
that go splash in the creek,
    and other things slimy
    that make girls go eek!

I sure hope that Mish, Glen and I can make it over there one day! Cheers, Scott.
